Fully Automated Driving Robot

The automated driving robot was a cooperated developement for the precise and reproducible simulation of regular driving on test stands with the goal to gain proper results for longterm emission tests. In order to grant a set-up time within 8 minutes and a simple, menue-guided handling, we attached great importance to a intelligent and a modular lightweight system design.  


• compact, modulare, lightweight but still tough construction
• spindle-free driven linear actuators
• simple and fast set-up  (< 8 minutes)
• humanlike driving without learning-phase
• repeatability of the driven cycles  <0,04 ppm 


Made by KNESTEL:
The "brain" responsible for the humanlike driving, the vehicle- and actuator control comes from Hopferbach. This higly complex developement was realised with the latest model based design tools to grant the system behaviour and the varying driving stages.

Currently we are working on additional cognitive abilities of the driving robot. "He" already masters the "sense of touch" which allows him to shift gears and break with human touch, the goal is to let "him" "see" in order to react to the cockpit signals like the tachometer and warnings and "hear" in order to listen to the engine speed.
